Message make. At least in Fort Mac, you make lots, but the housing market is a lot more expensive. Prices are comparable to Vancouver (extremely high). If you're going there for a few years, almost better to rent. Or if you're into oilsands and get a job, they'll pay for your lodging. It sucks, but nothing beats free.

I have no idea for Edmonton or Calgary however.
